An hour ago I was inking a drawing and I kept messing up! It looked so STiNKY! There was no fixing it! I threw it into the “Pile of Failure”, I keep in my attic and gave up for the day.
But now, after reading this, I feel motivated! Motivated to try again!
What I struggle with… and I’m not trying to be pessimistic… is… where to draw the line between trying again and moving on?
We all learn from failure… and we get better… but it’s also true every once in a while that we are butting against a wall we will never crack and could be better served by brushing ourselves off and trying something new. Not giving up, but learning and changing the focus of our efforts.
I don’t know how to draw that concept with a Motivating Giraffe though :)
Reminds me of the line from the Kipling poem ‘If’:
‘Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools.’

Something to bear in mind as all those resolutions start slipping… thanks Penny and MG for another great archival reblog :) Don’t forget to visit Motivating Giraffe to check out Penny’s latest drawings…

Thank you Motivating Giraffe! :)
This is a good mantra to remember whenever my creative projects go badly wrong.
Is that the big bad wolf blowing it down ;)

Great stuff
Love that giraffe!
I don’t think Giraffe needs to be using a …. triangle-thingy …. if he’s not using mortar. O_o
